Ivanov // 2011
Ivanov tells the story of a man absorbed by his own inner conflicts. Exposed to the love of his sick wife and to the thundering passion of young Sasha, Ivanov, stagnant and faithless, goes about coldly describing the events that surround him. Empty talks and overlapping dialogues create the environment of non-communication and resignation that triggers the landocracy decay and anticipates the Russian revolutionary atmosphere on the turn of the nineteenth century.
About the project Teatro Máquina's production places Ivanov before his devastated forest and of a desperate reality. His renunciation to life affects us and updates the chekhovian drama in order to make us reflect on the times we're in. Our production develops the ongoing investigations on non-representation practices, demonstration, de-dramatization and assessing situations. To develop this project, we established contact in order to exchange experiences with groups from the countryside of the State of Ceara (Arte Jucá, from Arneiroz and Oficarte, from Russas) and with group Piollin, from the State of Paraíba in order to find co-creators and to promote encounters between groups, as a political action.
