Répéter//2009
A public space, a man, a rope, another man, a box, four roses, two more men, a woman, another woman. Time diluted by the look, space reframed by time, the look fragmented by the repetition of the actions. The awaiting, the effort, the surprise, the non-sense, the double, the disenchantment. Six actions seen from different angles, multiplied bodies, alike gestures, reflection of situations surrounding the goodbye.
Répéter's basic core has been developed since 2006 by Teatro Máquina and it's entitled "Good-bye". From this basic core we explore the situation of a farewell as leitmotiv for the choreographic composition. For a deeper exploration of the repetition, the current group research has been developing choreographic situations from the disintegration/stripping of previously explored actions, exposing and sorting them out, without the need of suggesting casual relations. Each performer provides a personal contribution that will be explored as the object of a collective creation. The geometric notion of space is formally emphasized through displacements in non-linear, consecutive angles. The idea is to develop gestures and situations, reframing the space through the notions of rehearsal and play. Répéter is an experiment on repetition, fractioned in four non-linear, consecutive angles. The scenic approach seeks to address the actions executed by the characters from different angles, indicated by the character skipping rope, which, by facing different directions, forces the others to replace themselves before they can once again go on stage. A square area is delimited, internally repeated by the roses distribution. The repetition gives the audience four new possibilities to perceive the same actions. It's a scenic exercise that has as its mobilizing incentive the plastic and formalizing experimentation. Space is limited and depleted in its geometric reduction and becomes text when embodied in repetitive gestural compositions. Répéter is an investigation on space and its emptying, the gesture and its plastic construction, anchored on the discussion about repetition and rehearsal as a reinvention procedure and working method. |
